![]() ![]() The decision to make the limbs the target is so simple and yet genius, and the plasma cutter complements this choice so well. ![]() The first time I shot a necromorph aiming for the head as you do, and watching it relentlessly chase me headless, struck the fear of altman in me. Whilst the necromorphs looks absolutely disgustingly scary, I do feel like pink flesh thing was done in a lot of games during the 7th gen, but maybe Dead Space was the reason for that. Though you could argue this makes sense as uniformity to the Ishimura, regardless there is plenty of visual variety in the open ended rooms and facilities you navigate through. Much of the Ishimura is tight dimly-lit corridors that are terrifying to walk through but can look a little samey. Horror in a space ship is not new but I like the industrial look of the Ishimura makes it a bit unique. I love that there is no hud, everything you need is represented through Isaac's suit and this makes the game look even better. It is still visually stunning, this game captures the emptiness and desolate feeling of space. I just was in the mood for a horror game and thought I'd give it a go, and boy is it horrifying whilst also being an absolute pleasure to play. I started Dead Space on a whim and I didn't know too much about the series, even though I follow and watch a lot of games media. No, not because it's outdated in any way, but rather it is practically the perfect survival horror game and a calibre of video game that EA struggle to replicate nowadays.
